After a variety of vacation jobs, i.a. life
guard in a swimming pool in
Windsor (look out 'Baywatch' babes!), Zoë began her television career as a
runner at Granada Television and researcher on BSkyB on the children's
programme 'Cool Cube'.
She then joined 'Action Time' and spent two years as
a researcher working on a variety of quiz shows. This led to a job as a
researcher/assistant producer and later a presenter of Channel 4's 'Big
Breakfast'.
After auditioning for Children's BBC, Zoë became the presenter
of the 'Birthday Slot' which led to her being a regular presenter of CBBC's
music magazine programme 'The O-zone' (voted Best Music Show by Smash Hits),
'Short Change' (a series of consumer programmes for Children's BBC), a
regular co-presenter of the 'Broom Cupboard' and host of 'Playdays' on
weekday mornings. Zoë was also chosen to co-host the one off BBC special 'An
Afternoon on the Moon' which celebrated the 25th Anniversary of man walking
on the moon.
From Spring to Autumn '95
Zoë presented the BBC's Saturday
morning Summer show 'Fully Booked' and the award winning BBC Art programme
'Smart' and has recently finished her first Pantomime, starring as
Cinderella in the record breaking box office success at The Derngate Theatre
in Northampton.
Zoë
co-presented the Saturday morning kids programme 'Live
& Kicking' for three years. She presented her last episode on 17 April
1999, bringing herself and the rest of the nation to tears. Recently she
hosted the Radio 1 'Breakfast Show', which makes her the first female DJ in
the history of the BBC presenting a breakfast show on Radio 1 on her own. On
31 March 2000 she presented the Breakfast Show for the last time and her
best friend Sara Cox took over. She also had a small part in the movie 'Still
Crazy'. (For those of you living outside the U.K.: BBC Radio 1 is the
main radio station, and the breakfast show is the most listened to programme)
